What is it that makes you want to celebrate New Year?

It is because you are full of love.That’s right – you may have had a rough old year in 2009, but deep down, you are a lover.
You love all good things.

Hogmanay is the time to love everything about life – and to love everyone around you. We’re here to tell you that this is an entirely normal feeling at this time of year.

Now you know what makes you want to party – here’s how to do it.
Edinburgh is the only place in the world to spend New Year and celebrate Hogmanay.
Apart from the street party itself and all the outdoor fun to be had all over town on the night, we have laid on Edinburgh’s biggest ceilidh and dance night in the biggest venue right in the centre of town. It’s called The Hoog at Edinburgh’s Assembly Rooms.
The word Hogmanay (probably) came in a round about way from Holand from the Flemish phrase “Hoog min dag” - which is the day of big love!
There is only one Hoog in the whole of Scotland on the night.
